Any one in KL that can make comments on how they find security as an issue?

My sister in law recently had her hand bag snatched by a guy on a bike.

That was in a bangsar shopping center area.

Are pretty sure the house (landed) is safe, it has double door entry (you cant go through inner door until outer door closed). for both pedestrian and vehicle entry.

Get a dog. Or two. Big. Asians are very wary of them. Try and train it not to accept food from strangers.

Thanks, I found in Joburg south africa that dogs in the end were not that effective.

But as I have promised the girls dogs, that might go a way to calming the wife.

A large sized dog is a good deterrent against any 'opportunistic burglars' but for professional and determined criminals it is of course just a minor obstacle.
So in general, a reasonably discrete style of life would be advisable.
For example the robbery mentioned in the thread subject could have been either an inside job with condo security or other staff involved or because the victims spread the word about their assets.
Besides that, I think the situation with criminality in Jo'burg is much worse than it is anywhere in Malaysia.
