renting in malaysia

I will go to malaysia in Xmas 2010 as my daughter intends to get married in Langkawi. I would prefer to rent a villa with private pool suitable for 8 people preferably in the Penang area. I cannot seem to find anything, can anyone suggest any websites or does anyone have one to rent out? I know we should not use this site for commercial reasons so please PM if you think that is more suitable. Thanks.

Glad to see you will be enjoying the results of escaping the Goan property fiasco. (I watch this forum for Philippines info)
Suspect that same as Goa, anything you find on internet will be massively overpriced, and I mean massively like European prices. Suggest you try a few other forums (forii?) for local recommendations maybe.
Also a look at my friend Christians site might help with general stuff at

Hi David, just want to check that you know that Langkawi and Penang are two different islands?

I disagree with Johnny - I would just google "langkawi villas" (or penang, if you really mean that) and see what comes up - it's how I've always got accommodation in Asia. You can often get the best deal by ringing them up once you have an idea of their prices.

Maybe come back on here with a shortlist and get advice from people who know the locale.

David,

This is Sean, a real estate negotiator living in Kuala Lumpur. You might want to visit one of the local website called iProperty.com.my. I don't know how long you are going to stay. But villas with private pools are very difficult to rent for a very short period of time. There are condos for short lease say a month or so.
