Recovery-MCO Domestic Travel Plans ???
Anyone thinking about,or making plans fro Domestic travel in the near future ??? Although I have no real complaints with Penang... I am feeling a bit of Cabin or Island fever for some different scenery after 3 plus months. I was hoping for a more relaxed opening of the international borders (maybe in the future) but having to enter Quararitine upon return for 14 days means I'll pass on International travel for now.
I don't plan on traveling until early - mid July (let things settle down), but I was thinking of Malacca or Langkawi. Malacca for one or two days, Langkawi for four or five days. 1st trip to Malacca for a bit of walking around and exploring, while Langkawi I'll go with a resort holiday plan. Just doing my part to help out MY Tourism...LoL

Re: Recovery-MCO Domestic Travel Plans ???
I haven't verified myself, but read in the newspaper that people are complaining that domestic airfare is rather expensive. Due to all the requirements are airliners not able to cram as many "cattle" into their planes as they used to do. I'm wondering what pricing strategy hotels are using these days: either low prices to attract more customers, or higher prices to compensate for the lack of income during the last three months.
Be aware that most (all?) hotels won't have breakfast buffets, only a-la carte options.

Direct AirAsia flights from Penang to Melacca is 268 ringit round trip (no baggage). Penang to Langkawi a little over 300 ringit (no baggage). Add extra 20% for baggage. Also AirAsia has reduce the 7Kg carry-on down to 5kg's. AA say's this is related to Social Distancing... I think that's a bit of a stretch. Hotels didn't seem too bad, although nothing mentioned about lower prices due to closure of Pool, Buffets, etc... do to social distancing requirement. I haven't pulled the trigger yet...still in the planning stages.
Honest I'm not sure if prices are higher or not. If the average Malaysians are planning multiple connects flights to visit families (especially with baggage), then it might be a little higher.

Don't think about coming to Sarawak. While Sarawak Government are allowing Malaysians from the Peninsula to come in they are still (irrationally) preventing Expats that are resident/staying in the Peninsula the same privilege.

Correction, after looking back the details: for a planned trip from Penang to Langkawi and back on March 12th ~ 16th I paid RM316 for 2 people, including luggage, taxes and other fees. Thus RM158 p.p.
Others in the group which we were going to join paid less. However, the event got cancelled and we ended up staying at home.

Update on Sarawak...
If you were already in Malaysia at the time the MCO was introduced you might be allowed to come in without QT.

This seems to apply to those holding VALID VISAS (does that mean valid "on the date of the MCO" kicking in...or currently valid) and does VISA mean "pass" (i.e. Tourist pass). MM2H is a pass so perhaps they are being general here.
Can't hurt to submit an application when the airfares drop a bit. All they can do is deny it or tell you..."you will have to Quarantine".

Here it the good tax news officially:
Please be advised that the Malaysian Government has announced that Tourism Tax is fully exempted and all rates/prices are with 0% Sales & Services Tax (SST) from 1st July 2020 until 30th June 2021.
Probably this time no real chance for our one time a year trip home to Europe, but let´s make the best out of it. Guess many had domestic travel plans in the last years not implemented, now is the right time for sure. I already booked some hotel vouchers for unbelievable low prices, you might want to follow the useful facebook group for MCO Travel Deals.
