I have had airlines at departure port ask if I have an onward ticket (I think they are trying to gain sales) and I just say going onward by bus.

Malaysian immigration have never asked me for an outward bound ticket...ever.

But choice is yours, but I never bothered and never had a problem.

Thanks. I feel more relaxed about booking a one-way ticket now. But I'll book a promo flight to Singapore or somewhere or even an online bus ticket to Singapore just to remove any doubt.
