Default Physiotherapist (paediatric) jobs in KL

Hi,

I am potentially moving to KL January 2012 with my work. My girlfriend is a paediatric physio from Australia with 11 years experience and is very interested in joining me in KL to work there in her profession.

Does anybody know any good websites, or have any contacts in this area that she could get in touch with? At the moment she is finding it very challenging using general searches on the net, there seems to be very limited information available.

Cheers

Hello

I would try some of the major private hospitals: Pantai, Gleneagles, Prince Court, Sunway. She could also get in touch with some of the priavte paed clinics who also have consulting specialists. My children go to Baby & Beyond in Bangsar and they have a lot of external consultants who come in on a regular basis. The doctors at this clinic are Malaysian who have done their medical training abroad. Hopefully they could also give you some pointers on how stuff is done over here.

Good luck!

Brilliant! Thanks for your time replying. I will pass this info on and let her do some digging.

This is exactly the kind of information she needs. If anybody else has any more information then that would also be appreciated.

Thanks again

Hi Jimbo

There are many expats with medical experience without work here, its is extremely difficult to get work in this field. Physios are very good and in abundance covered by Malaysian staff. Many of the expat ladies because they cannot work do a lot of voluntary work with the refugees and I know they are always looking for people with any sort of medical experience. I also noted that this is your girlfriend you are asking for in which case she will have to have her own work permit as she would not be eligble to be your dependent UNLESS you guys plan on marrying before you arrive here in KL, if she was lucky to get paid work. I know it does happen but it is a Muslim country and therefore you need to be careful coming as an unmarried couple. One of the other things you need to be aware of is you would be coming with a work permit I pressume but because your girlfriend would not be a dependent she would probably have to leave the country after 90 days for visa purposes but this is something you really need to look into further. I have been in KL this time around 15 months but we lived here for just under 5 years the last time so if I can help in any way with questions please PM me. Hope I havent put you off too much but its best to come forwarned.

Hi Jimbo,

Is your girlfriend still looking for work as a paediatric physiotherapist in KL? My nephew is in a KL hospital with severe brain injury following a medical error, which has left him with dystonia and spasticity. We're looking for a paediatric physiotherapist to help us with long-term neuro rehabilitation.

Dear Threefourfive

First of all I am so terribly sorry to read about your nephew's case and I hope there is a lot of help out there to get him better.

I myself suffered from a serious head injury 18 months ago when I was home in the UK and on my return to KL I went to see THE most fantastic Neuro Surgeon here. My long term symptoms are in no way as severe as your dear nephew's but if you are interested I can give you his name. He deals a lot with children's cases as well as grown ups and he would know of a good paeds physio for your nephew.

If you are interested please PM me and I will give you his details.

Take Care and I hope your nephew will get the care he needs too

AG

Hi Jimbo, I have only just come across this post so this may be a bit late. I'm a physio from Australia and recently opened my own physio practice in KL. Is your girlfriend still looking for a job in KL?

Hi physio savvy

I'm an MSc Physio student from kings college London, qualifying this sept 2013, and wondered if you have any vacancies at your practice? Or if you could offer any info / advice working in KL. My other half is moving over there for work and the plan is to move over in October.

Many thanks!

Hi PPT and welcome to the forum

As you can see, Physio Savvy has only done one post and that was in Sept 2012 but, you never know, she may respond on here.

For your info, and Physio Savvy if she is reading this, when you have managed to do 3 posts, the PM function will work for you, which may be handy.

Does anyone know the average salary for Physiotherapy in KL? And any good private practices (sports/orthopaedics) over there. Thanks!
