Is Penang a suburb of Sydney?
Seems to be so many Aussie retirees here. I guess the cost of living is a little better than Australia? Anyway I'm not complaining - good fun people to socialize with.

Re: Is Penang a suburb of Sydney?
you're kidding. Thought it was Francis Light
|
Re: Is Penang a suburb of Sydney?
Francis Light wrested Penang from the Sultan of Kedah (fell in love with the 1/2 Portuguese Princess interpreter of the Sultans....way to go Franky) They had a son William Light who founded Adelaide. The Statue at Fort Cornwallis says Francis, in fact is supposed to have been modelled on William....In think!

Re: Is Penang a suburb of Sydney?
Wow, thanks for that, Strider. No doubt I'll get around to reading up some Penang history one of these days, when I can tear myself away from all this socializing with Aussies :p

Re: Is Penang a suburb of Sydney?
Hello there bakedbean
Redbean here from Sydney. Currently visiting Penang and hoping to apply for you know what so that I can buy a condo at you know where! :D Glad to hear that you like to socialise with Ozzies or should it be Aussies. Must be all the late nights that I experienced since hitting the shore of beautiful Penang. Could also be the Penang air, it is doing something strange to my lingo. :o |
Re: Is Penang a suburb of Sydney?
Hi redbean - another bean, blimey, maybe we're related. Is that redbean as in kidney beans, or maybe they have a different name in Oz?
Anyway, welcome to the forum!! You know whats and You know wheres - that's a bit too cryptic for me. |
Re: Is Penang a suburb of Sydney?
Hello again bakedbean, it is redbean as in the redbeans that you find in ice kachang! Don't know whether the varieties of redbeans found in Oz is any different from the beans found here. :p
All I know is that beans are beans whether red or baked. ;) Of course there are black beans which I heard are a wonderful source of dietary fibre. Ooops, I just found out that in Australia, redbeans are known as matchbox beans or the lucky legumes. I think I rather be known as lucky legumes than matchbox beans..........whatddaya think  Hope we are going to have some interesting discussions on beans in the near future. You know what = MM2H and you know where = where i hope to buy the condo. |
