I did a search for flights from Penang to KL with Malaysian airlines and booked one. I am then intending to stay overnight, in KL and with a completely separate booking booked for the next day KL to Bali. Looking at the Penang to KL ticket it has me landing at the international terminal M. Does this mean I have to in effect clear customs when arriving a terminal M or does Malaysian Airlines have domestic flights that land at the international airport ? If anyone has done this same trip recently appreciate any insights. Thanks.

Haven't flown Penang to KL, but in Penang, international and domestic arrivals baggage collection is in the same place,But domestic arrivals need not pass customs.there.
Should be the same in KL.

Thanks Gunnar45. Never entered Penang on anything other than an international flight so wasn't aware that luggage is shared between domestic and international. Checked Malaysian airline flight schedule and all their flights from Penang to KL go into the international airport so think you are correct. Fly on Wednesday so will be able to confirm. Funnily enough I started to fill in MySejahara just in case it was needed and allowed me to say my departing airport was Penang, and entering in KL with all the standard vaccine etc updates as if coming from overseas. Covid has certainly made travelling a more interesting experience

The Kuala Lumpur International airport main terminal building has separate rows of gates on the contact pier for domestic and international flights. Gates are marked with prefix A and B for domestic departures, G and H for international flights.
