Oktoberfest, Anyone Going
I'm going Saturday night.
It's in Penang at the Malaysian German Society which is in the same road as Suffolk House, off Green Lane. Its on Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are 25RM in advance, or 30 on the door.
Give me a shout if your going and we can have a rendezvous.

What a night.
I've been to Oktoberfest's all over the world and the Penang one has to be one of the best I've been too.
That whole night was just too much fun.

Sorry for the late reply but I was busy celebrating the Oktoberfest - recovering and celebrating again.
Real great Oktoberfest this year with a fantastic band.

Yeah I know what you mean, its normally just a bad band playing um pah music and loads of people who don't know and don't want to know each other drinking beer. Nothing special in that.
But this event had a real party atmosphere that you don't normally get at an Oktoberfest. Everyone just let go and had a great time.
In contrast, the Oktoberfest in Guangzhou held in September was cold, commercial and just not fun. Its like you went to be judged and it was so pretentious. The band was just plain annoying too. In the end I had to go up to them and say, do you know any AC/DC, as you could see the frustration on peoples faces when the same song got played for the 20th time.
With so many cultures getting along with no friction, Penang is kind of unique and can certainly party when it needs too.

I was in Germany many years ago at Oktoberfest...they sure know how to drink!
