No end in sight for ringgit, stocks rout....

Re: No end in sight for ringgit, stocks rout....
With the pound at RM6.64, now may be a good time to convert some GBP. Personally, I doubt the ringett is going much lower at the moment as there is good economic news with regards to GDP growth, factory output, palm oil prices and good inflation figures. The same is probably also true of the euro rate at RM4.83.

Fresh lows for the RM against GBP today - around 6.67 / 6.68. My bet is for further weakness in the coming quarter.

How are prices in the wake of the softening ringgit? Are you seeing prices rising in line with the softening or is it just happy days for the expats?

Re: No end in sight for ringgit, stocks rout....
Sterling is strong because a €3.3bn farming subsidy is due to be paid out in GBP on Wednesday but the delayed interest rate rise by the BoE might mean a GBP correction next week. A crystal ball would be really helpful at the moment.
EUR has just hit RM5. Oil price weakness is still affecting the ringett but that could change quite quickly too. I think I will lock in some EUR now though. |

Another good source is xe.com the appearance is slightly different depending if you are using a PC or their mobile app. But basically you select a number of currencies that you are interested in. They are all quoted against one base currency and you can type any value into the number box to use as a currency converter. If you tap one of the other currencies it becomes the base currency against which all the others are quoted, or if you tap the arrow on a currency you can see a graph of the base currency against your selected on. The period for the graph can be any of a selection of periods ranging from 1 day to 10 years.
On the PC version you can select any time period and zoom in, just type xe.com into your web browser. |

JC3,
Thanks, bu I know of oanda.com, actually it is where I always get my data from and have done since the early 1990's. But since I never had any interest in the EUR vs GBP rate, I had only entered the EUR/SEK & GBP/SEK rates in my spreadsheet containing the monthly exchange rates, etc. And instead of just telling BB where to look for it, it was less than a minutes work to enter a formula in the sheet and copy the result into the post. Especially since the need only was for a ballpark figure |
Re: No end in sight for ringgit, stocks rout....
Simply using the Google search engine for "gbpeur" also works. Google immediately gives you a chart, no need to surf to any other website.

Re: No end in sight for ringgit, stocks rout....
It looks like the opportunity to convert some GBP or EUR to Ringett has passed its peak, at least for the time being.
