Default Moving to Malaysia August 2013

Hi, me and my fiancé have accepted jobs at Sri KDU International. We are moving to Malaysia in August. Wondered if anyone had any information on the area of Kota Damansara? Where to live, what there is to do, anything that should be avoided?!

Does anyone know how much we should expect to payout for a car? Can cars be rented rather than bought?

Also anyone know what tax I should expect to pay?

Any pearls of wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

Look forward to hearing from you

I'm look for answers to all the same questions - There's loads of people starting up there so it should be a case of a lot of us in the same position

Have you managed to sort out Medical examination reports? I'm really struggling and i'm not sure if it's my doctors being awkward or that I am missing a form...?

I went into them today and was told it would cost me £165.00 and that I would need an official form, any advice on this would be greatly appreciated as it's something I never had to ask about before.

Thanks

My doctors was saying I needed a form too. I've booked in with my gp for next week. They said it will cost between £40 and £100. I'm going to see if I can just use the example medical form they sent with all the info and see if my doctor will use that. Although I think the price might go up if I have to have a chest x ray as it has in the example form!

Think if you go private it's prob easier but probably also at least double the price!

I had an email from the school this morning as I wasnt sure either. Then i spoke to the doctor they said it should cost about £85, and the school will refund this with receipt once we arrive in KL. Im still not sure about a form though, there doesnt seem to be a standard one. Ill keep looking and let you know if i find anything.

Hi all,

My husband and I are about to apply for jobs at the same school; it seems they are still recruiting. Can I ask how long after applying you were all offered the jobs?

We applied on what must have been the original closing date and had an email within 24hrs to tell us we had an interview. Think it was about a week and a half after the interview to say we had been successful.

Good luck!

Thank you! We can't afford to wait around so hopefully the process will be as quick for us as it was for you!

Hey all, I had an email from HR about the medical. It said I needed a simple medical fitness certificate/ letter. It said a basic medical check-up is sufficient. It also said that you could use the medical example sent as a reference or a guide and that an X-ray was not necessary.

I saw my doctor this morning. He did a quick check up and wrote me a letter (didn't charge anything)
So I'm going to send that to the school and hopefully it will be enough.
