MM2H and Passport Renewal
 

What is involved when you have to renewal a passport that is associated with a MM2H VISA ???
I've recently been approved for MM2H, but I'm wondering if it might be good idea to renewal my passport so that it matches up with the 10 year MM2H.
I have about 6 years left on my passport, but... I only have 6 open visa stamp pages left. With my enjoyment of travel, these open pages might be filled up within about 2 years.
Should I make the effort to renewal my passport now (if I'm allowed too), or just wait and renewal my passport when it expires, or the visa pages run out of pages (I'm not allowed to add anymore extra pages), and then updated the MM2H requirements ???
Any thoughts are appreciated.

I would renew the passport now as you will have a clean passport for visa stamps (some of the countiries in the region require full page visas) and also because you avoid the hassle of having to transfer the MM2H visa stamp when you later have to renew the passport.
I believe (I am not 100% sure) that you also save some money as you will have to pay a double yearly visa charge for the year you renew your pp, one in the old one and then one when you get the MM2H stamp in new pp.

If your country allows you to request a new passport so early I would advise you to do so. Don't forget that the MM2H visa will also consume one full page of the passport. If, on top of that, you need a "visa performed" stamp: this also takes an entire page out of your passport.

I think it’s a good idea to try to get the expiry dates of the Main MM2H Applicant’s Passport and the Dependants’ Passport(s) to align.

This is because the dependants MM2H PASS will expire when the Main Applicant’s passport expires, even if the dependant’s passport has several years left to run.

If both passports’ expiry dates match you will halve the trips to Putrajaya required in the future to transfer the MM2H PASSES into the new passports.
