I believe the most recent thread re 10yr MM2H Renewal was in 2016. Is there enough interest here to re-visit this subject?
Hubby and I are due to renew our MM2H ten years status sometime in February 2019. Since researching this, I have come across much conflicting info and would appreciate input from you all out there!
I remember that it was clearly stated when we [DIY] applied and was approved in 2008 that renewal will be on the same basis.(as our original application):
We have liquidated our UK rental-property; the proceeds transferred to MY hsbc to finance our living expenses. UK investment returns are extremely low currently, so proving RM10k per month is going to be difficult.
In addition, are we suppose to also provide:
And they have recently abolished the car-import-tax benefits.
The much touted I-Kad for MM2H participants never materialised.
Conversion of UK driving license to MY license ceased.
We stay in MY less than 90 days in any one stretch. We do however, fly over 3 or 4 times a year. It was/is comforting to know that we could stay beyond the 90 days if needed and not be accused of doing "Visa Runs" However, with all matters considered, would anyone agree that applying for Renewal is now not worth the costs/exercise? Leopard and spots and all that, MY has a habit of chopping and changing their T&Cs whenever they feel like it; lacking clarity and little thought given to previously agreed agenda[s].

- We dont have a government pension - they refused to accept our private pension.
- We bought a Freehold KL property (RM2m) prior to MM2H application.
- We showed them 6months worth of Bank statements, showing regular rental & investment incomes.
- We were approved on a RM60k FD.
- We were informed that upon Renewal [for another 10 yrs], we can import another pre-owned vehicle, tax-free.

- Letter of Good Conduct? UK constabulary will not provide this type of letter!
- Certificate of Medical insurance? For us 70yr old people? How at our age?

Hi nks900
your post is timely and echoes the thoughts of many of us.
MM2H renewals have always seemed to me to lack clarity and transparency.
Your point on income and asset prof are apposite but to me the question also revolves around the level of the financial bond.
Like you I have a reduced bond due to both property and car purchases. If I have to renew the bond to full level of 150k the scheme is not that attractive.
Malaysia is my holiday home also like you so the visa run issue does not apply. I saw the MM2H as some form of connection.
Look forward to hearing from others and yourself as you proceed through the process.

I renewed earlier this year but through an agent.
I had to provide:
Medical certificate (Any registered MY clinic will do)
Lien letter from the bank hat the MM2H 60k FD is still there (I applied with the FD option)
I didn't have to show any income.
No letter f good conduct required.
No medical insurance needed (also I am >70)
I don't know if there ever was a rule for importing a duty-free car upon renewal.
I would strongly suggest to start the procedures now and not wait until February!

As I said above:
''Lien letter from the bank hat the MM2H 60k FD is still there (I applied with the FD option)''
That is what I had to show.
What other cash at bank requirement do you refer to?

In the initial application you need to show available cash at bank of 350k MYR for the last three months

Thanks Gunnar... that sounds very promising to say the least.
Especially the information about retaining the reduced FD amount.

Yes, I was surprised as it was so easy. I was actually prepared for a worse case scenario.
But please note that this was in the first half of this year.
I would recommend starting the renewal process as early as it is possible, this because if conditions change, they generally become more stringent.
I think a maximum 3 months in advance is allowed.
The process from the date of application letter to the date of approval letter was appr. 5 weeks and one is given six months to obtain the pass (visa stamp) from the date of the approval letter.
Again, I used an agent so the procedures were all clarified to me.

I did the original MM2H application on a DIY basis. A Renewal Application cannot be that much more complicated; so not using an agent. Only 35 mins drive to PutraJaya.
Upon my enquiry last week [we are now in KL] , an agent quoted me RM5000.
Does anyone know:
what are the costings/fees when submitting the Renewal Application?
how much is it now for each year's "Visa stamp"?
On approval of a DIy MM2H application, does anyone remember if one had to deposit a Good Beheaviourr Bond [money $$$$] ten years ago? I cannot remember..[ old age... mind is fading fast! ] If so, I must remember to reclaim that if we leave the programme.

For myself, the yearly visa and multiple-entry pass fees were RM90:- & RM20:- respectively.
The multiple-entry pass fee seems to vary depending on the individuals nationality.
'Journey performed' Visa charges (RM600+) could apply under certain circumstances, I am however not sure which they are.
Maybe if you get your visa stamp after the old visa has expired?
I am not aware of any other charges from the immigration authority.

If you are only 35 minutes drive away from Putrajaya then I would advise you to simply go there and ask. It has been mentioned several times on this forum that in a face-to-face meeting they are more able to provide accurate information, applicable to your specific situation, than either by phone or email. And I would guess their information is more accurate than what you can get on an internet forum. Bring your original MM2H approval letter as that might contain information about the renewal procedure and requirements as well.

SushiFan, that makes absolute sense! Why didn't I think of that? Ten years ago we had to visit 3 separate offices to complete the procedure:- PWTC in KL, Immigration office in Jalan Duta, then PutraJaya.

That sounds like the amount (after permitted withdrawals) that existed in the old Silverhair Program and still exists in the Sarawak M2H Program. So likely they are holding to the original conditions.

When I applied (2008) it was 150k of which 90 could be withdrawn for approved expenses.
But the program was called MM2H.
