Medical Costs Insurances

Any need for medical insurances?

If yes any recommendations?

Range of policies? costs/fees to watch out for

In case you apply for MM2H is it one of the requirements that you take out a medical cost insurance in Malaysia. I don't know if other visa categories have a similar requirement.

I heard it doesn't have be issued in Malaysia, an international one is ok. Is that not correct?

This is what the Malaysian Government states about it:

Purchase Medical Insurance in any insurance company in Malaysia /summit Medical Insurance that is applicable in Malaysia.
Source: Steps To Apply - MM2H Official Portal

However, you will most likely find that it is cheaper to take a medical cost insurance with a local company than an international medical cost insurance. In my case, I have a local medical cost insurance and added a travel insurance on top of it for the periods that I'm away from Malaysia.

We have a world-wide insurance from Belgium. Was accepted by MM2H without a problem.

Insurance is a must once you obtained the mm2h approval.
Unless you're above 60 years old, the insurance company refuse to accept your application.
Your can either purchase a local medical insurance or show your existing medical insurance which covered worldwide.
