Malaysia Departure Tax
Not sure how accurate but if so to consider when flying out of Malaysia as departing from KL compared to Singapore to your home country may be more expensive.

But, with Changi charging just over equivalent of US$36 departure tax, and the cheapest departure tax to Asean countries being around US$2 there wouldn’t be any saving would there bearing in mind the cost of the flight to Changi?

This is probably more relevant for those who live in Penang or parts of Malaysia where they can depart from either KL or Singapore. The cost of flights from Penang to KL or Singapore are pretty similar.

Cost of flights from Singapore to anywhere overseas far outweigh minor departures tax saving compared to KL
