Re: Love Wine?
Related to Love Wine - anyone have recommendation for a wine fridge? We thought we were pretty amazing when our landlord agreed to provide one. But when they proudly showed us 'the chiller' I thought it looked unlike one I had seen before. Went to turn it on and saw the manual. It's actually a stand alone freezer.
Considered trying wine slushies, but might make me whine. ;-). So now looking for something suitable.

We bought one on Sale a few years ago at Best (formally at Gurney, but has been reloacted to 1st Ave). It's the regular fridge compressor and has indicators for red and white wine.
We found the ones using the Peltier cooling system doesnt work as well as the ones using the proper fridge compressor in this hot weather unless you always have your AC on in the room.

OK, it´s not the Fat Bird not to mention the Porcupine, but it is a good deal (for Malaysia)
2 bottles of Jacobs Creek Classic (Shiraz or Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling...) with two well designed wine glasses for RM 88,88. If ou give the glasses a value of about 3 Euros each, then it is a price like at home
Available at the Hank´s stores, that is the alc and pork section of the Jaya Grocer supermarket chain (very upmarket if you don´t know it).

Re: Love Wine?
Just wondering if I am the only person to be irritated by the over-enthusiastic saleswomen in Cold Storage at Island Plaza.
I like to have a quiet contemplate in the wine section before making my selection. Today the woman made a beeline for me as I approached wine corner . I said ......would you mind at all if I make my own selection of wine today? She went quiet. As I walked around, I could sense someone behind me and, yep, she was following me around. I got my 3 bottles of wine and was about to head to the veggie section when she pounced.....can I just tell you about ...

You are not alone she drives me mad. Even when I try explaining to her what I look for on the label she insists on pushing her promotional bottles.

Re: Love Wine?
I always ask her if she's tried any of them herself
The woman in Cold Storage Gurney is just as bad.

Yes encountered the same problem when I used to buy there but I've since moved my wine buying elsewhere as its cheaper.

Re: Love Wine?
And me too.
I think I might try the following:
Q1. "Have you tasted it?" So far her answer has always been "No".
Q2. "Could you pour me a glass to taste then, please?"
That will be another 'No'
Q3. "OK. Then can I bring it back for a refund if I don't like it?"
Err, another 'No'
Q4. "OK, if I need your help again, I ask for it. OK?"
Must remind myself to keep smiling and be nice. Whenever I'm rude to sales people, I need their help later. It's Sod's Law.

Re: Love Wine?
I've had a look through & I cannot find their business card with correct address & having just slurped my way through my last bottle, I'll be popping in there within a couple of days Then I'll do another posting, they do not in ant way push any bottles, & have a very professional approach to customers I've since found many other expats go there as well.

Oh, if it's one of those places that sells wine "discreetly" maybe best not to put on here
