Most 4-5 stars hotel will put on a lavish spread if you are willing to pay the price. Do you want to have a traditional christmas lunch or local? :)

Traditional...it will be my childrens first Christmas away from the UK, so i think keeping some things the same would help. Don't mind about price really.

While i'm picking your brains....can anyone recommend somewhere to stay in Port Dickson....just for a weekend?:confused:

Have you tried trip advisor? Great place to start for accommodation. Why Port Dickson, if I may ask?

As for Christmas lunch, if you want a great view is to give Traders a go. :)

I consulted my guru, Tripadvisor and here is what one of the members posted:

"If you want a really nice meal, the restaurants in the Starhill Mall are worth visiting, a couple are 'rated' some of the best in Malaysia like MY Thai Jim Thompson and Gonbei or Shook, plus there are some really nice restaurants at the Pavillion Mall which is just opposite Starhill, both on Bukit Bintang.

PD, it's close, you can drive there and there's a beach. After spending 16hrs on a plane i don't even fancy a short plane journey for the first month.

I'll have a look at Trader's....it's just by the Petronas towers so could do a stop off at the paddling pools after...that almost sounds like a plan! :)thanks!

I don't think PD is a great idea to visit for a paddle. For great beaches, you need to head off to east coast Malaysia especially Pulau Tioman or further north to Pulau Langkawi.

I think joamelie said she (he?) would be here in a couple of weeks time and it's north-east monsoon time.... so east coast (Tioman) will be very wet and probably flooded. West coast would be better though you can always get a downpour any time.

Redbean, is PD a bit Malay? I remember a friend of mine going to a beach near there and got ordered to cover up :( Mind you, this was years ago so maybe things have changed?

Joamelie - don't be pathetic ;), just jump on a plane to Langkawi. It only takes about 40 minutes from KL and the beaches there are gorgeous and it's very quiet and laidback - a great place to chill out.

What is a few drops of rain..........Joamelie and family can enjoy the novelty of the monsoon rain and perhaps hire a kayak to paddle up and down and around the neighbourhood.

Joamelie also said beach, plenty of beach in Tioman even during the monsoon season. :p
