I have a questions! & Hello Malaysia!
I'm a British Expat living and working in Malaysia at present (having done so for the last 3 years) - I run a resort in/near Johor. Really keen to let people know about it in Johor/KL as it is easy to get to and a great weekend getaway. Very popular with Expats in Singapore but can't seem to get the word out in Malaysia. The site rules say I can not advertise in the forums. Any advice?
Also wondering if there are any expat meet ups in JB? That's for my personal use not for buisness as I don't know that many people in the area!
Thank You

Hi Carlylou11
If you want to target expats in Malaysia, a good way to do this is advertise in the various expat association publications that they produce monthly. You can look at AAM, ABWM, MANZA, the various Scandinavian associations etc. Have you looked at social media marketing? google adwords? Both deliver a combination of keyword and geo-targeting which might work for you.
Good Luck.

Hi Carly - I think you've already joined but here's the Meetup group I started in September:
http://www.meetup.com/Johor-International-Ladies-Group/
There are a few others on there too.
There's also an International Women's Assocation in Johor.

Bakedbean, I think your interpretation is right, good to have you back on the concierge desk :-)
Carlylou, google 'association British women Malaysia', 'American assoc Malaysia' etc. Also look at websites for the magazines, 'Expatriate lifestyle' and 'The Expat'. Again, google is your friend here.

Hi carlylou11,
Does your resort have a website? If yes then place the URL in your signature, this will count on as an inbound link from each post you have scribed from here.
If your site has adopted Google webmaster tools you can see a list of inbound links to your site & the more inbound links the more important your site will appear to the Google algorithms (or so the theory goes).
If your website is optimised for search engines & has lots of external links pointing to it then it should be high in Google search for many differing phrases, this should in theory help with the promotion of your resort.
Have you implemented a social media plan? Does your resort have a Twitter & Facebook account? Have you created your own personal blog whereby you can create posts that subliminally promote your resort free from the traits of outlandish advertising pulp?
