Default HSBC in Tanjung Tokong

Somebody (a HSBC Premier customer) told me yesterday that the HSBC Amanah branch in Precinct 10, Tg Tokong, now caters for Premier customers and, consequently, gets rather packed out.

Anyone know what the deal is? Is that true?

I've never opened a HSBC account in Penang (yet) mainly as it's a pain in the bum getting into Georgetown and finding parking. If this is true, it might sway me.

If it is, the news hasn't reached the HSBC website yet https://www.hsbcamanah.com.my/1/PA_E...er_centres.pdf. Which is a shame, it would be far more convenient.

But I thought that the reason there were amanah branches and 'normal' ones is that sharia law doesn't allow lending for profit so the amanah products are specially devised to be sharia compliant. I'm not sure that you would get the right service from your relationship manager in this case.

I got word from the horse's mouth this week. Yes you can get cash out at Tg Tg branch; you can pay in cheques. Anything more than that, it is best to go to the Georgetown branch
