Hi all,
I'm moving to KL in September. I'll be working in Bukit Damansara but before I start work I'd like to travel around for a few weeks.
Ideally I'd like to find an apartment before I travel around so I have a bit of peace of mind that's sorted and somewhere to store most of my stuff so I can just travel around light. How quick can they normally show you around, sign the papers and get you in? Are all the property agents much the same? Just wondering how much time to leave at the beginning of my trip to allow for that...or another option, does anyone know of any place that can offer secure storage for a couple of large suitcases for a few weeks?
I've been looking around on the iproperty website for apartments in Damansara, Bangsar and Bukit Bintang. Any insights to those areas and travel to/from Damansara?
Cheers,
Steve

There is no public transport in DH so you'd be relying on taxis or driving. DH is a rather quiet family area, so if you're single and want a bit more buzz then Bukit Bintang might suit you better. Bangsar is a good alternative; loads of restaurants, decent bars and everything you need shopping wise. Really depends on what you're after..

ajw is correct. You will have to rely on taxis or drive around Damansara area. If you are working at Bukit Damansara than Bangsar would be better coz it's nearer compared to Bukit Bintang.

Thanks, I'll probably narrow it down to those two areas then. Either way I think I'll be getting a taxi to work from the looks of it. Do people have dedicated taxis? I'll probably want a regular that can pick up and drop off on a daily basis.
I think part of the attraction to Damansara was some of the apartments look really nice. Bangsar apartments look quite variable in quality for the price but I'll probably get an idea when I actually see for myself. How quickly has it taken people to go from viewings to getting the keys for rentals?
Thanks again

DH consists mostly of landed property. There are a few new apartment developments. Bangsar has far more apartments to choose from and yes, quality can vary. There are some very nice developments in Bangsar but you will pay for it.
The time it takes between viewing, signing and taking possession probably depends on the apartment, whether its currently occupied, whether it needs some work before occupation and how quickly they can get the leases drawn up, signed and stamped. Best that you get in touch with some estate agents to get a feel about how quickly they can turn it around for you.
