How to build an Offshore Island (step by step guide)

Lots of activity offshore now. These two pics are off of Seri Tanjung Pinang. I don't live there, I'm further out. I've put my camera on maximum zoom so excuse the fuzziness. Maybe someone nearer Straits Quay can post a better picture.

I guess this is an island. It's in the right place.

This is the far end of Gurney. A bit too far away for my camera. What do you make of this?

It's about in the right location of the start of the offshore road but....whoa....that left hand bend  Holy moly, gonna be plenty of vehicles end up in the sea.

I think it cannot possibly be the start of the road. Maybe some new kind of replacement enclosure for the fishermen?

Could it be Penang is trying to replicate Dubai...an island built like a Pearl (pearl of the Orient) could be a good investment...Oh! my! here I go again when I promised to relax and enjoy my ill-gotten gains in retirement.
The 2nd pic could be a breakwater for an up-scale marina for local and visiting yachts....Great! they build that just after I relinquished my MM2H.

As a Renter this doesn't effect me too much. A bit more noise if my windows are open. My 2nd sea view is still good...at least until they start building the 2nd bridge to the mainland.
My guess they will be filling in all the way to Gurney plaza. Outdoor cafes/restaurant/shops would be nice, but sky scraper condo's would be disappointing. Didn't someone post an artist rendering of this a few months back ???
Was their any opposition from property owners when this future reclaiming was proposed/approved a few years ago. Is this seen as a good thing or bad for property value ???

What you are seeing here is the start of the Seri Tanjung development.

I think that this is the outer boundary of the Gurney Wharf project. More about that here: First phase of Gurney Wharf to be completed by mid-2018 | Penang Property Talk

Good pictures. Wonder what that square multi coloured "platform" is.

That's the underside of the platform.
Obviously must have toppled over.

Anyone injured?

That platform is called Kardashian as it likes to show-off its bottom.

OK! OK! I'll stop now...the wine is talking...

Some of the shore line and buildings don't look like those at Tanjung Tokong?
Could some be taken off the coastal highway where they are reclaiming the stretch before Queensbay Mall?

Lately I don't see it any more. But it used to be right in front of the coast and was being towed around from one location to another. Maybe they were measuring the sea bed or water currents. I remember that one day it was toppled over and a crane had to come and pick it up again.
The nice close up photo gives me the impression that it was constructed out of oil drums?

My close up photo magnifier shows 3 oil drums in each rectangular slot.
