Default Has anyone living in Malaysia written their own will?

My wife and I have written our own wills in the UK after buying a will-making kit from WH Smith and I was just wondering if anyone living in Malaysia has written their own? Is there a similar will-writing kit available in Malaysia? Or is it a case that it is relatively cheap to have them written professionally? I eagerly await the responses pouring in......

I would get one done professionally. If the will is uncomplicated, it shouldn't cost a lot to get done. As I understand it, the lawyers make their money on the probate.

If you don't have a valid will, or it is not done correctly, you can get into a real stew, in that maybe other relatives will be entitled to yours or your spouses assets under Malaysian law (I believe).

Also note that probate is quite slow in Malaysia. I've been told up to 6 months. So, if you've got joint bank accounts only, make sure that you shift a bit of money into your own account if your spouse pops his/her clogs.
