Happy New Year!! What's everyone up to?
We're battening down the hatches for a few days and avoid the traffic jams of Penang
Got a couple of Lion Dances to watch at weekend and early next week a CNY lunch buffet
And the weather is just gorgeous.........

'Kung Hei Fatt Choi' to All here
I thought I could hibernate, but looks like this is the busiest CNY here....invitations to eating spree started yesterday and will continue to next week. Plus get togethers with 'old' friends from KL

I just did a google on that. It looks very nice but I think I'd want to hack the duck fat off.

That's not a good recipe, imo.
Don't use chilli.
Take all the skin and fat off the duck.
Leave the duck flesh on the bone.
Cut one duck into about 16 pieces.
Needs one hour cooking at a simmer.
Leave to cool overnight.
Heat up and simmer for 15 minutes before eating with boiled rice and for us chicken curry, another home recipe.
Can't wait.
It's like turkey at Christmas.
We have it once a year but it lasts for 3 or 4 days.
Lush.

This is a better Itek Tim recipe imo.
Closer to the one we use.
http://en.petitchef.com/recipes/itek...oup-fid-463717
BTW we use 2 whole ducks in two large pots.

Gong Xi Fa Cai!
I've been so busy CNY's pretty much passed me by this year
Nobody I know here celebrates it and I haven't managed to get down to Chinatown since we moved our office out of that area.
The Geek is paddling in the Dragonboat Regatta at Darling Harbour in a couple of weekends, though.

CNYs in Singapore seemed to pass me by when I was there - but it's different when you're working 24/7, isn't it. Now in Penang.... if I see one more Lion Dance...
