Default Flights UK to Kuala Lumpur, who do you use?

All in the title really

I have found a deal in the UK for return (July/August) at £525 inc taxes which is cheap, but never heard of the company and not sure flights only are covered by ATOL etc

Thanks

I don't fly much these days but do have an app on my iPad called skyscanner... It's free to download. Just plugged in some July/Aug dates LHR to KUL and best price was 2990 ringgits with Qatar Air, one stop. That's about GBP 635.

We usually fly BA, direct from their website, as we are yet to find anything cheaper.
That's to Singapore but might well be the same for KL.

So check BA and Malsysia Airlines and maybe Air Asia.

Previously when I checked BA I thought they went via Hong Kong to KL?!!

We have flown Emirates numerous times, mainly because I joined their Skywards programme in 2006 when I was working in Petaling Jaya and had about 5 or 6 flights in Business Class so was able to rack up the airmiles. This year, however, we are flying Malaysia to Heathrow (RM7,558 return for 2 in economy, or 7,778 if you book seats!) in July. Personally, I always thought BA & Malaysia were amongst the most expensive airlines, but maybe things have changed recently?

Air Asia (or Air Asia X) did open a route from KL to Stanstead a few years ago, but I'm not sure if that still operates?

I think Julian is heading for Penang end destination, so Singapore is just as good for connections (if not better actually) and Changi more pleasant than KLIA IMHO.

There's loads of flights Singapore to Penang. Not sure how that works in Immigration, but Singapore so easy for everything. We have flown SilkAir (Singapore Airlines owned) and I've done JetStar on my tod. Both seemed fine. JetStar does some very keen prices if you choose your days carefully. Take a look at their website.... very user friendly.

I think AirAsia also flies SIN-PEN. Maybe Tiger too? Not sure.

Unfortunately Air Asia no longer flies to London, or Paris for that matter. More money to be made regionally I suppose!

I always seem to get good Emirates fares. When I came, it cost me £569, and my next trip to the UK has cost me £559.

They have Best Price guarantee on their website and if you keep adjusting your days and select different times of departure etc, you can get pretty good fares.

Regards
Abdul

Yes, I book return flights. The problem I found is that the dates available are only for 330 days from the time you book. So if you were travelling on 2nd September, you have 'used' 120 days already, meaning that the return date you select will have to be within 220 days after the 2nd September.

I usually book any return date, and then change the return date at a later stage, which costs £75 per ticket. Not sure if this applies only to Emirates or all airlines.

In the good old days, you could purchase open tickets that were return, but you could specify exact return date later on.

Regards

Great food on Emirates, or always used to be.

A little off topic story. We used to run a business and like all businesses, no money to start off with and travelled economy. We were flying out to the Middle East and Singapore also.

Eventually came the day when we were making some money and booked our very first Business Class flights with Emirates from UK to Singapore (I think). Got to Check In and they started scribbling on my ticket and said Mr & Mrs bakedbean, we have upgraded you to First Class

Woweeeee..... flight was about 9 in the morning. Stewardess: would you like some champagne before take-off? Caviar??

Yeh...why not.
