Fantasy Shophouses - want to join in?

We quite often eat around Prima Tanjung and right opposite they are currently building some new 3 storey shophouses and we keep wondering what they will be. Our fantasy shophouses so far are:

1. Nice little Bistro Bar with aircon of course. Greene King IPA and John Smiths on handpump. Quality wines at cheap prices. Maybe some nice Italian dishes, some Cajun dishes. Nice low background music.

2. Good quality Indian restaurant with great service, attentive waiters , cheap prices. All food cooked fresh to order.

3. Rick Stein Fish restaurant. Rick Stein cooking of course. Special discounts for MM2Hers

Lovely shophouse. Looks very like ones in Duxton Plain Park area in Singapore:thumbup:

It's one of the few conservation shophouses left in Geylang, not in great condition, terribly neglected, but was home for four years :)

Bet you don't miss the Dengue mossies though. Funny that we never met as I was just down the road from you, round the corner from Joo Chiat.

That one of yours looks lovely. Not so many in Singapore, are there - at least not in good shape. Seem to be lots in Penang.

Off subject, but last time I was in Geylang a guy walked up to me offering young girls. when I declined he then offers young boys. Bugger off says I, I'm with my wife. OK he says I sell you viagra then!!

I used to feel flattered when I got asked How Much, but my middle-aged Malay cleaner was not so flattered when she was

Hell no I never again want to experience Dengue.

The roof leaked in numerous places, we had mould growing on the bathroom walls, the walls were crumbly...still loved it :) Especially the open-air kitchen and the semi-open bathroom. Wanna see more pics?

Do you know, I regretted that almost as soon as I posted it. Can't seem to find many on this laptop, and none after we'd moved in.

Check out the lovely tiled floor downstairs (sadly abused, but still fabulous). And the size of the bedroom - oh I loved that bedroom! Even if half the construction workers in the neighbourhood used to sit under it, on the five-foot way, eating their supper and jabbering away all night (and there's a hole in the floor so you can see who's at the door) :D

The upstairs bathroom, before we got the blinds fixed. There's also a shower and a loo in separate tiled areas, almost rooms on their own. Also a shower room downstairs, in the yard, and another loo at the end of the yard. (The in-laws got a bit of culture shock but it was all spotlessly clean.)

I was told these were the Lover's Stairs - when the husband came back unexpectedly, the lover could escape out the back.

We had stands in the lounge windows, where our cats used to sit and watch the world go by. There was no privacy in the lounge unless I closed the shutters but I spent most of my time in the courtyard anyway.

One of the old aunties from one of the clan houses was always kissing the window

This has absolutely nothing to do with fantasy shophouses - sorry bakedbean  but hopefully interesting for others to see a non-expatty and less sanitary side of Singapore.

Don't apologise. The pics are great and I'm quite surprised. I think you mentioned in another thread way way back about your shophouse and I had it in my mind that it was a dump :o but it looks beautiful. So.... would you go back? Never say never huh.

Never say never, but it would have to be a very good offer indeed :)

That said, The Geek seems to be doing an increased amount of travel here too, although thankfully most of it short, domestic trips.

The pics are fabulous. In another life we used to live in and do up old places and sell after 13 months (no capital gains tax) and your pics takes me back to those days...not that i want to start again.

Do I detect Luna Park avitar??...just for fun:cool:

You do. When we first moved to Sydney we lived very close to Luna Park. I came across that pic (done by a friend) when I was looking through my files earlier so thought I'd use it for a while.
