Default Expats in the construction industry

Hi,

Are there any british expats in Malaysia working in the construction industry? So far I haven't come across any in the 2+ years I have worked here in a consultancy.

Working here has at times been a challenge. The working culture is different and not knowing malay language is an ongoing barrier at the moment. Any exercise/text book recommendations when it comes to learning bahasa malaysia for an english speaking person?

It may be some comfort to learn that Malay is considered to be a fairly easy language to learn. Different strokes for different folks but I would go for a traditional grammar-based course - and get a teacher for one-to-one study.
