Expat Health Insurance
I know there are some posts on this subject but I am looking for some current information. I have been approached by an expat insurance company called Regency for Expats which seems to have a plan that is well within my budget but I have not heard of this company before. Do any of you have any dealings with this company? Are there any packages you would suggest - I am in my mid 40's permanent resident in Malaysia.
Thanks !

I had not heard of that company. I notice on their website that they don't have an office in Malaysia. They have an online quote for health insurance. For fun I filled it with the details of my wife and me. The resulting annual premium was a staggering 2.5 times what we currently pay.

Thanks SushiFan. The price I was quoted by Takaful, AIA and Allianz is indeed 30% cheaper than but I get outpatients benefit upto $750 per year. This sounds too good to be true as no pre-existing medical conditions need to be declared. I was advised that claims handling is done in Hong Kong where they are based. The skeptic in me is not sure about this hence this post in the first place.

Suggest that you buy a local insurance if you really stay in Malaysia because if really something unfortunately happened, hospital take time to find out your insurance, the insurance company take time to find out the hospital background.
Unless you paid on behalf first, afterward just claim back with your insurance company in your home country. It also subject to your insurance company whether recognize the hospital or not.

I use William Russell, but it's fairly expensive, I'm 47 and pay £1500 per annum. It has world coverage and travel insurance.
