Default Employment pass inquiry

Hi folks,
My prospective employer are in process of getting employment pass for me.
I am wondering whether there is any chance of rejection. Also how long this takes?
Can anyone please shed some light?
Thanks,

Mine took a couple of months after I got here until the stamp was put into my passport. As long as you meet all the criteria, it's unlikely there will be a problem, it's just a frustrating wait as it's difficult to set yourself up here properly (bank account etc) without one.

Thanks for your reply. Couple of months sounds bit too much. Lets see how it goes.
Thanks again

It may sound a bit much but we're in Malaysia and these things take time....

Thanks ajw. I wonder, can you be in the country and wait for it and then change your status? I don't know how this thing works. I thought they only give 1 month visa when you arrive in Malaysia on visit purpose.
Sorry for causing confusion.
Thanks again.

Isn't it 3 months? But maybe depends on your nationality. I've got some European friends who do the visa run every 3 months, so they clearly get 3.

I came in on a social visa, which was for 3 months. If the employment visa hadn't come through in time then they were planning to send me and my family to Singapore for the day to renew it. They have done this before but my employment visa came through quickly....2 months.
Things here take time!

I am from Srilanka and only allow to be there for a month I believe. Unless there are different rules in case you are waiting for EP.
Thanks
