Default Christmas is coming

Where is a good place to find Christmas cards in Penang? And how can I find out the last posting date to be sure they arrive in UK and France on time?

There's not much choice of Christmas cards about. You could try some card shops in Gurney Plaza or one of the other malls. If anyone else knows other places, please squeak up on this topic.

TheArtESpace studio is selling some Christmas postcards (a variety of different types) if you're interested All proceeds going to Charis Hospice. I think Mrs Neonhippy might know where the studio is, but I'll put a location map below. It's at Straits Quay, adjacent to Thai Oddysey on level 1. Pop along on Tuesday morning if you want to take a look at the postcards. Also open Thursday morning.

The advantage of sending postcards is that you can just put a 50 sen stamp on. (Actually *somebody* told me on Saturday that it's 60 sen. Does anyone know?)

I don't know about Last posting dates. Do we do that here? My rule of thumb is just to get them all posted by December 1st.

Old enough and wise enough to realise that it will give pleasure to those back home. Especially the really old ones who haven't caught up with the digital age.

This morning they had migrated to the end of the first isle. They are just about the first thing you see when you walk in. But, take care, the individual ones have sensible words but most of the packs of ten have words suggesting that they are from businesses to customers or suppliers. Not quite what you would want to send to great aunt Maud.

I saw some at Cold Storage today--the Gurney one. Behind the cashiers, to the left.

Does your great aunt Maud also have a pet stoat called Malcolm that accompanies her everywhere, by any chance?

Not sure what she calls it but she wears a very fine fur stole quite often and is the source of all my most rational answers on here.

Surely it cannot be Christmas already...it was here last year! How time flies when having fun. I guess the only place where time is slow is prison.

Ok...gotta go get those twinkling lights outta storage.

And continuing the festive thread, is there anywhere here doing a traditional Christmas lunch (turkey and all the trimmings) because I've been looking and haven't found it yet.

In Penang...the IWA Christmas lunch at the E&O hotel might fit the bill (open to both male and female non-IWA members too).

It's not on Christmas day though. For the 24th/25th December I suggest asking at the Ferringhi Garden Restaurant in Batu Ferringhi what they have planned this year. It's beautifully decorated at Christmas time every year, and is one of the best upmarket restaurants in BF (usually open only for dinner). You'll need to book soon though, it's very popular.

Here's a tip: It's a very big restaurant so there are plenty of options where to sit. Definitely avoid the tables near the Gingerbread House / Children's Grotto - unless you like little kids running round your table and Mum & Dad taking endless photos of their little darlings.

Not only not on Christmas day but not anywhere near Christmas either.

On the other hand it looks jolly nice!
