Certifying Birth certificates in KL

Hi,

For an Australian visa we need certified copies of our birth certificates. We'll probably be in KL at some point. Does anyone know where we could get it done. Apparently the British High Commission Kuala Lumpur doesn't do it.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Fenella,

I noticed a MM2H Centre Announcement (Date: July 1, 2015) that's probably relevant, as follows:

Commissioner for Oaths Are Not Allowed To Certify Documents

Effective 3 August 2015, MM2H Centre will no longer accept certification by Commissioners for Oaths. According to a directive by the Registrar of Malaya High Court, Commissioner For Oaths are not allowed to make Certified True Copies.

Hence, certification can only be done by Embassy / High Commission / Notary Public / Government Official / Solicitor / Advocate / Auditor from origin country. Thank you.

Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Centre MALAYSIA

I suggest you Google search 'Notary Public Kuala Lumpur' - several come up, and then call one to confirm they can do the necessary, and the fee etc.

Forgive me if this is not relevant, but may I take it that this is not for an ordinary holiday trip? I got my free e-Visa online, valid for one year.

Thanks JC3!
bakedbean and ex reg - we currently have the free e-visa. It is valid for a year but you have to leave the country every 90 days. We've bought a camper in Australia and would like to spend an uninterrupted year there which requires the e600 visa and involves more paperwork.

Thanks very much bakedbean and InVinoVeritas! We're sooo excited about picking up our camper van in Brisbane in 4 days time and beginning our exploration of Australia! A new country for us.
