Default Buying flour and baking goods in KL or Sabah

Hi everyone
Just wondering if anyone can help me - I'm trying to find flour and yeast to make bread with, preferably wholegrain/wholemeal/rye and organic. Does anyone have any ideas where I might be able to buy?

Cheers!

Emily

Hi,

The Village Grocer in Bangsar offers a range of flours and yeasts.

Not sure about bread supplies specifially, but this store in Kota Damansara has a huge range for cake baking. They may also do other flours if you call and check.

If you are located in KL, I know of a new artisan bakery which has opened. They import their own stoneground organic flours from the UK and bake an amazing array of bread, pastries etc. Nice for when you cant be bothered baking your own..

bb, iirc you leave your a/c on even when not at home.
Not a surprise you haven't acclimatised like some of us.

Cooked a great leg of pork for 8 of us this evening and topped it off with the Christmas pud we couldn't get through on Christmas Day.

Acclimatise - you know it makes sense. (especaially if you want to roast and bake, but I think you aren't interested in that :-))l

As long as you're not in the kitchen next to the oven, but rather sitting outside beneath the rambutan trees with a cold drink I miss good bread too much - here in Sabah, generally the only bread I can find is nasty white stuff.

ajw - thanks, I don't live in KL so was hoping to either buy flour on a weekend trip there, or find a place that will post it to me.

Have you thought about having some posted from somewhere outside of Malaysia? I agree that the quality of bread is awful here. My baker who bakes using organic stoneground delivers to my condo weekly now. We now get through less bread beacuse we're eating the proper stuff which actually fills you up!

Oy leave me alone. In actual fact, we sat this morning in our condo unit with ACs firmly off, windows and door open, and a very nice gusty cool breeze coming through the flat

Must admit I find the wholemeal stuff in Tesco and Cold Storage to be OK, and the French sticks. We have a couple of places nearby for some variety too. Prefer to bake my own when I was getting through enough of it. Not sure I'll bother here.

Hi Emily, there are a few places you can try - Merdeka supermarket on the Penampang Road, City Mall has an organic shop and there are a couple of organic shops on the top floor in Suria Sabah. Tong Hing might also be worth a look
