British Sweets
Hi everyone :D
I noticed when I was out a few weeks ago that chocolate was quite expensive in KL was just wondering about other British sweets if they are easy to come by. Wherever my husband works in the world I tend to pack some of his favourite boilings and gums, Is there anything you find difficult to buy or rather expensive? We do embrace the new culture we come across and enjoy new things, however some home comforts make things easier :D Looking forward to hearing what sweeties everyone likes. Nic x |

....just wondering about other British sweets if they are easy to come by. Nic x I think UK sweets and chocolate are quite hard to find in Malaysia. You will see quite a lot that looks the same, but actually taste different because they have been made in, for example, the Middle East or Australia, rather than in the UK. This is especially true for sweets that contain chocolate. Kit Kat is everywhere, but it’s not made in the UK, nor is most Cadbury’s chocolate here. You can find M&S chocolate and sweets at their stores in KL though (2 in KL, 3 in PJ). Then there’s Tesco. I’ve seen some of their Tesco finest chocolate in their stores here. There’s also Godiva, the Belgian chocolate people, who have a couple of stores in KL and have another opening in Penang early next year. And you may find some Waitrose products in Cold Storage supermarkets. If it will keep, I suggest you stock up before you come! Mine's a Crunchie. As for British cheese...well that's another story. I'm not a chocolate person but sure I saw a Godiva shop in Penang recently. In Paragon I think.
Cheeses? Now you're talking :) |
Re: British Sweets
that was my thinking with the chocolate it always tastes different elsewhere so shall bring some over, otherwise, it might be good for the diet :D ah are cheeses not so good either that's another one of my downfalls :D

Re: British Sweets
You can get some nice cheeses but most are quite expensive being imported. Cold storage usually has some nice Brie, some good Dutch cheeses too like Old Amsterdam.

Re: British Sweets
British chocolate melts here - the local one has more sugar so it don't melt.
Village grocer sells British chocs. But expensive. See it as a health plan! |
Re: British Sweets
