Brit Girl in KL

Hello

This expat forum is all very new to me and am not exactly sure what I am doing but will have a stab anyway....

I have been in KL just under a month, having moved here from the UK with my partner who is working out here. I am lucky enough to be a lady of leisure and while this is obviously fantastic, its leaving me with a lot of free time! Therefore I am keen to meet new people (male and female) to have a blast and explore KL with. If anyone is interested in meeting up for drinks or whatever then give me a shout

Thanks!

Hi Lindsey

Welcome to KL. I suggest you get in touch with the ABWM (Assoc British Women in Malaysia). They have lots of social activities and run a great course on getting to know KL called 'Hello KL'. The ABWM house is located in Bangsar. Their website is: http://www.abwm.com.my/

Cheers

Hi there

Thanks for the tip, I did email them yesterday but have yet to hear back!

Even better - if you fancy you can go drop in to the house (before 2pm when it closes). There will be someone there who can answer questions and give you info on the next newcomers coffee morning and course dates/schedule for Hello KL. The newcomers coordinator (Lynette) is very friendly. Address details on their site.

Hey

Yes I think it was Lynette who I emailed, I will perhaps pop on over there tomorrow!

Hey

I moved to KL a month ago and am still finding my feet and yet to meet people outside of work! I'm 26 by the way if that makes any difference?!

Cheers

If you are out socialising at all, please let me know if you come across any places you consider to be 'decent' (bars etc.). Visiting in a couple of weeks and it would be nice to have some ideas before I start

Hiya

I am new to this Forum and just to let you know that I'm a Malaysian who have just returned back to K.L after 11 years in the UK

I lived in Paddington and then Harrow, one year in Yorkshire.

Hi Nathan and welcome to BE :) You might want to edit out your phone number on here as you'll probably get bombarded by spammers, which won't be much fun. Once you've done 3 postings (I think) you can use the PM function and contact others on here, or they can contact you direct by PM.

So what brings you back to KL? Fed up with the UK? Wouldn't blame you if you said that, though Yorkshire is very nice in parts. We used to have some breaks in the Peak District in south Yorkshire when we were living in the UK. Very lovely part of the country.

Thanks for the reply and advise.

Well just for a change really- I am back for a bit to be with parents.

Looking at the new conservative party's policy which wants to tax everthying and anything, increased cost of living and the standard is crazy out there at the moment.

How is K.L? are u enjoying the everlasting summer weather here? I am enjoying the rain actually.

Leeds was really nice place to live I must say- people with their yorkshire ascent is great.

So, what brings you to K.L?

I'm not in KL. I'm retired in Penang on the MM2H visa. We (me and mr bakedbean) have been living in Penang for just over one year, but we've been in south east Asia for more than 6 years..... so we're used to the endless Summer now. And no, I do not miss English winters one bit.

We've getting a growing number of posters on here who are living in KL or in the suburbs. You might want to have a browse through the forum at some other threads. Should get some KL folks along soon.

Hi Shamz, welcome to BE. Great that we're getting so many expats in KL posting on here now. Are you enjoying KL? Anything that you don't like about it? Though it beats UK, right?
