Hi There
If we decide to make the move to Malasia my husbands office would be placed in Desa Sri Hartamas, can anyone tell me if this is a good place for an expat to live or are there better places near by where my Husband can commute to work. We need somewhere that is close to his office, has a british international school, a nursery, and places that i can take my 2 year old boys on days out whilst my daughter is at School as well as the usual amenities such as shopping/supermarkets etc????
Thanks
Emma

Yes, its a good spot, right next to Mont Kiara which has an enormous amount of accomoodation options, shopping, restaurants etc. Schools in Mont Kiara are Garden International and Mont Kiara International. IBU (details already supplied) also hold their playgroups in this area.

Thanks ajw my husband is in negotiations at the moment over the schools deposit and registration fee, plus he is asking for a car as i have looked at how much they are to buy and it seems they are very expensive!!!! So we'll have to wait and see, i'll let you know how he gets on, thanks again for all your helpful advice.

Ok thanks to you both. Are condomiums the most preffered types of accomodation for expats or could you recommend what would be the best option for me with 3 small children? The accomodation varies so much its hard to get an idea and the pictures are limited so you don't really know what your looking at unless your there!

Hi Nemodot
So do you think we should negotiate the monthly school fees + registration fee and deposit? Is that what most expats get included in their package? The role is a recruitment manager role, £50k is the basic, with an opportunity to earn comission depending on how much business he generates so he could earn double that! Do most expats negotiate a car as well or is that pushing our luck! My husband has another meeting with the company next week to discuss the package and we just want to make sure we get the right package but don't ask for too much where he may not get the job!

Hi there, yes definately negotiate the school fees as they eat up a huge chunk of your income and there are significant upfront costs for the schools so they'll probably be your biggest outgoing out of your husbands salary. I personally think you're pushing your luck about a car but you can always try!

Expats live in either houses or condos. It really depends on budget, what facilities you require, whether you like the security aspect of living in a condo etc. Get in touch with an agent who can show you a mix when you get here.
