Default 426 counterfeit bags worth RM50,000 seized in Batu Ferringhi, Penang

Only 426 bags? That doesn't seem very many. There must be thousands of fake bags for sale every night at BF. Sounds like the market traders have a good advance warning system going making it difficult for the authorities. The same fake watch sellers have been at BF market for years.

I don't think that the sale of fake branded goods at street markets tarnishes the image of Malaysia as a tourist destination.

I somehow doubt that they would be "worth" RM50,000.

I think the Government have to show that they are tackling copyright issues and thus every so often will stage a raid. I do remember getting all my best software at local shops but following pressure from the software industry (USA) most of those shops disappeared.

I'm guessing that those whose goods were seized hadn't been paying enough Kopi money to the relevant people.

Cynical? Moi?
