Is this like Peaky Blinders in a way? Earlier / Later ?

Only gangs in London directly impacted on my Dad & aunt so not sure I would want to watch something that romanticised that.

Hola my old fruit bat nice to hear from you hope you and pikey are well.I would describe gangs of london as very modern up to date violent gang warfare nothing like peaky blinders but i've only seen one episode of peaky.I would if you can get gangs of london watch the first episode which has the hook and sets the series up if you don't like the first one you will have your answer.Hopr this helps.

If you like The Godfather, Mafia/gang films/programs then you will enjoy this series. It is violent in places...but I enjoyed it.

His Dark Materials

I would have preferred the movie version (Daniel Craig, Nicole Kidman, in "The Golden Compass") to continue, but the production values in this serialised version are very high, and much of the supporting acting is first rate.

However, the story-arc development of the teenage leads is occasionally quite painful to watch, so far. That seems to be as much of a problem with the show-runner's adaptation-to-length of the original material as anything else.

Regardless, I'm hooked.

Watched the remake of the classic Rebecca last night on Netflix. It was reasonable, not as sinister as I remember the original.

It's worth it. I'm hoping there's a season 2 in the works.

Hugh Laurie is usually in good programs. Have you seen Night Manager...another great series?

Yes, that was really good. I was introduced to Hugh Laurie through his P G Wodehouse stuff, where I just found him annoying. Turns out he can actually act. House is brilliant.

You never saw the Fry and Laurie sketches on Friday/Saturday live shows hosted by Ben Elton?

I came to them later for some reason. Jeeves and Wooster were first.
