I dry the sheets on my treadmill and elliptical. The washing instructions on the sheets say...tumble dry on cold setting. How does bedding dry using the cold setting?

I've tried that by hanging things outside here in the wind in the winter. They freeze solid, which is less than ideal for sheets.

Cold air dries more quickly than warm air. The Scientist of Swing will be along shortly, to explain.

Our's has a low heat for delicates setting. I usually dry stuff like sheets and pillow cases separately on a 60 minute cycle with a dryer sheet. They come out soft, fluffy and fragrant

It's to do with the moisture content of cold air vs warm air and that's all I shall say on the matter

I'll take your word for it...but when I put them in the dryer on a cold cycle they don't dry.

If I put the dryer on the lowest heat setting the sheets shrink.

That's because the fibres contract... Just sayin.
Anyway, it's your bloody fault for buying silk sheets.

Wash your sheets in the summer, buy enough to last. You're welcome.
