Collecting frogspawn from ponds and hatching it in the tank on the nature table.

That didn't make me smile today of course, but it did then.

Did your tadpoles ever make it to become frogs? Mine never did, no matter how many times we collected frogspawn.

Do people still do that, it seems like something that wouldn't be allowed these days.

I know we got as far as them developing by several stages, but I honestly can't be sure that we ever got actual frogs. I suspect they all croaked while we were on holiday and we were told that they have just been released back into the ponds.

I expect frogspawn is a protected now, and rightly so. Can't be doing without frogs.

Frog spawn collection is alive and kicking down our way. My son's school had then all collect some and bring it into school last summer, they bunged the lot in a few tanks around school and let the kids watch them develop.

One thing I didn't know, tadpoles like cucumber, they went bonkers every time a slice was dropped in the tank!

You didn't miss much. It was tasteless and unfounded. You know, the usual.

Cool. I always enjoyed that, even if mine all died

Giving the scaffolders some coffee and cake and being feted as 'the nicest homeowner in the area'.

On the other hand, it shows what a horrible area it is.

Oh dear, did I get the country wrong? I could have sworn Peru was where Gary Glitter was holed up. Still, bit Draconian, deleting my post because of poor geography.
