As you say, bittersweet. The thing that is best is to remember all the good times, as that, strange as it may sound, takes the bitterness away and makes things sweeter. ( been there...)

cheap fruit......10 kilos of pears, 12 kilos of apples, 12 kilos of strawberries, 15 kilos of seedless mandarins and 15 kilos of bananas. You would be surprised how cheap it was. $50, thereabouts, for all of that. 64 kilos of fruit for an average per kilo price of about 78 cents. We go to a big fruit market in one of the riskier areas of Lima to buy fruit for the orphanage. It is a drop off point for fruit coming from the jungle area. Can't beat the prices.

Cheap fruit and veggies are always a plus. I drop around $40 per week just on myself. Going to miss fresh cherries, blueberries, nectarines and other summer fruits. Lucky to be born and raised in the US. I try and always appreciate that lucky happenstance.

Taxi picking me up at 3:30 this morning, about 2 1/2 hours from now, to go to the airport and off to Trujillo in the North of Peru. Plan to visit some fascinating archaeological and historical sites like Chan Chan, Huaca del Sol and Huaca de la Luna, El Brujo and la Dama de Cao among others. Should be a good 4 days.

I'm getting on a plane in four hours for a four day weekend in Melbourne. Not been anywhere at all for six years. Only slightly excited, especially as it's a birthday treat from First Born.

Apparently there's some rain but not fussed by that, it will be several degrees colder down there which could be hard as we've had a few days of gorgeous weather up here. Some shopping, some wanderings, some eating, some chilling and a day and a bit with a great BE friend who lives up in the hills outside Mellie -
