An item in today's news remnded me of a friend who decided to take his driving test on a traction engine, he had all the other groups on his licence, and he wanted a 'full house'. He put in for his test, and was told it may take a while to organise as they had to find an examiner approved for that group. He eventually got the date, and the examiner, who had never officiated at a test on one of these, even though approved, decided to do the questions first. His first question was 'If you are going at 30 mph, what is your stopping distance' My friends reply was 'No idea, if this was doing 30 mph I certqiqnly wouldn't be on board, I would have jumped off ages before, the max speed these can go is about 8mph'

In the test they still had to do the 'emergency stop' so the examiner told him that at some point he would step out in front of the vehicle and he had to stop as quickly as possible etc. My friend said that as he turned a corner onto a long straight street, the examiner stepped out about 200 yards in front of him.

He did pass the test.

Watching "Yes Prime Minister" we've got the whole series (also "Yes Minister")

Every episode is brilliant.

"Our policy is not to have a policy"

"I need to know everything, in order to determine if I need to know it!"

"I don't want a leak inquiry, I want to know who did it"

My fav episode is "The Key"

Excellent show. Not a single bad episode in the whole series (both).

The one about the new hospital is superb, and totally true to life, all hospitals would be incredibly efficient, if it wasn't for the patients..
