What made you smile today? Part III

Coldplay’s Chris Martin plays impromptu song at pub post-Glastonbury
The Stag at Hinton Charterhouse. We used to go there on Saturday nights about 40 years ago. We had a driver friend who didn't mind limiting himself to a couple of pints and something to eat. Gammon, egg and chips was on the menu - he would have Trout Meuniere (with walnut flakes) - washed down with a few pints of Royal Oak.
We stopped off at another pub on the way back for Owd Rodger, a crazy strong beer which we limited to just the half so as not to get plastered.

That wasn't good was it. Bless him.
Mum climbed over rows of seats to get closer to him at a concert. I remember as a kid her showing me a bruise the size of a side plate on her leg from doing so. I think it was about her 60th I bought her a life-size cardboard cut out of him that's still treasured today.
Some people are just beyond help.

I did when I was mumblemumble years old.
In fact, he features on the soundtrack of my life. Laying on the grass at my best friend's place, the album Every Picture Tells a Story on the record player (may as well have not bothered with the mumblemumble). Starry night, no adults within cooee, and by the time Reason To Believe came on I was in love.
It was really just my friend's older brother trying to cop a feel, but at the time I thought it was all very romantic

It's a sad thing, but I've not yet "revisited" past experiences without a touch of disappointment. When groups you liked are depleted through the ldeath of past members, when they can't quite reach the notes they could, when the breath runs short...... I was cursed with whatever the aural equivalent of a "photographic memory" is, so even whilst they perform, in my mind they are being compared to what was...........
Though sometimes, watching someone perform is a bit like the apocryphal story of the monkey riding a bicycle - it's not so much how well they do it, it's a wonder they can do it at all!

Watching at hummingbirds from at least two nesting pairs at the feeder near my front window.

Reports of ‘intimacy’ in new Wimbledon quiet space
Gives new meaning to the term courting couples.
Still, as long as they don't make a racket.
It is supposed to be a space where guests can escape Wimbledon’s bustling crowds and packed courts.
But some amorous couples are said to be misusing a new dedicated quiet room at SW19.
Spectators have reported seeing sheepish looking couples emerging from the facility next to court 12.

Smile? I can't stop........ even the idea of Johnson escaping with a shred of dignity can't stop me.
Now I want to see every one of the crooks who supported him disbarred from standing as a replacement.

Once he has gone, the UK needs a General Election, which will see the Tories decimated as they were in 1997.

The supermarket had Stilton.
I almost danced with happiness. It's vital accompaniment to my whisky and sprite/7up.
We have a specialist cheese shop in town - not convenient for me and it costs a bomb anyway. There is one supermarket that sells it more often than not but I don't normally go there.
My regular supermarket had some after Christmas but not since, until today. But they've had a revamp and it might become more regular now.
