I never know if I'm doing it right though, because I tend to put the stuff I like into Folk or Americana, and the rhinestony stuff that I don't like into Country.
I do the same with Willie Nelson.

I was really more talking about Glenn Campbell though. His singles can be a bit cheesy, MOR stuff but he is a seriously good lead guitarist, which I didn't realize until recently.

He was a great guitarist (I say as an amateur) and a Muscle Shoals guy.
Sadly, he turned out to also be a right wing bastard.
Willie will smoke dope with anyone and anything.

Didn't know about the other stuff though, but that could have been the dementia ...

He was.
It was pre-dementia, going back to support for the Vietnam War, although by today's standards he would probably be classed as a free thinker.

Likewise. He turned out to be the only rapper I would listen to. His lyrics were great, and I am all about the lyrics.

Yep. Same for Snoop, Dr Dre, etc for me. I know that's my 90s bias but it's really good stuff when you get unti it.

Getting away from Rap for a bit......Nobody writes better lyrics than Billy Joel.

Now I love Billy Joel, he's a national treasure for his dedication to touring his hits, but I could never say he writes better lyrics than Bob Dylan or John Lennon.
