We all know the strengths and weaknesses of the most popular online auction site, however, just recently it (or its users) seems to have gone quite mad.

Often you will find things being sold on a "new" at prices greater than the normal shop price. Some of these must sell, otherwise why? Sometimes you will find things second-hand that are no longer available new at prices greater than the new price, equally these must sell..... if not??

However, I have recently purchased some "new in box" Wi-Fi mesh units (for 2-pin plugs, good for Portugal) for under £40 (rrp over £150), I have bought a pair of new American leather slippers (RRP $70) for £19, I have bought a "used" tablet, still on sale at £270 for £180 and found that it was still in its shrink-wrapped box. All par for the course.

However, I have also been tracking a dehumidifier for sale, used, with some cosmetic defects. The headline description suggests it is the premium model, but the text makes it VERY clear that it is actually the budget version. As of now, it is tracking at £10 less than I can buy it new online......

So, do people simply not read the description? Or do they develop a form of bid blindness where winning is everything? On what planet does somebody pay the same price for something second-hand as they would buying it new on a different site?? The seller must be laughing!!

Ready for a game? Here we go....

A friend called me this AM to say a local (well 25 miles away) pharmacy was doing a vaccination walk-in today. (climbs ladder)

I called the pharmacy and they said no jab for me because it's less than 8 weeks since my first one (slides down snake)

Then my Anaesthetist friend called to say they were doing a walk-in at the hospital today. I said about the 8 weeks and he said, nonsense, it's now 28 days. (climbs ladder again).

Arrive at Hospital, present card, get a slip and go to the clinic. Nurse says "this shows only 45 days since you first , we can't innoculate you until 8 weeks have passed!" (dragged screaming and kicking down snake)

I ask a staff nurse if my friend is about - and he is doing vaccinations himself. I wait, he comes out and I explain the issue - he says "there's a special form". He fills it out and I get my jab!!!! (I strangle the Snake, pass GO and collect my £200!!!)

So, it seems you CAN be vaccinated early, but it needs a special form filling out. It also seems many don't know or don't care.......Like in Portugal, it's not what you know, it's who you know!

So, I'm double vaxed at last Only downside is that I now have a burning sensation in my left arm and it feels (like last time) as if I've been hit with a baseball bat!

Still, good for Christmas!!

Well done. So the game of snakes and ladders was worth it in the end. Does that mean you can go back to Portugal PDQ?
