With all the bad news - some good news (I hope!)

Had a call from the installers today to say they are prioritising my new boiler for Saturday AM!!!!

Now that's service!

Wait and see if they turn up. Hopefully, they will, and you have the new boiler installed.

Don’t forget to offer them a cuppa first and keep them coming.

This was British workmen’s usual phrase ‘Are we having another cuppa then luv.’.

Fortunately they're working people and will very likely have the integrity to do what they promise, unlike COP26 wastes of space.

Final harvest from our hydroponics system as we have frosts forecast for 5 nights this week. The big green things are loofahs.

Impressive.

A loofah is a kind of squash? They certainly look like it.

We have one of those orchids, too. Ours was from Trader Joe.

Yes a loofah is a cucurbit and like to grow up on a trellis so the fruit hang down like cucumbers. My orchid also came from TJ's

I remember you had to pre-soak them to get rid of the seeds.......

... and they never really worked, 'cos they don't hold the soap

Mexican customs used to be extra careful to protect the valuable loofah market. When they caught a tourist trying to take one back into the US they would confiscate if ripe, or shake all the seeds out if dried to keep people from growing their own.
I had a terrific debate with a lady who was certain loofahs were sea sponges.

The Mexican border - the source of any number of utterly surreal stories I have a few myself.

Where i come from a nipper is a mush
Does Mush mean man?
(Britain, slang, chiefly Southern England) A form of address, normally to a man.
