To me it just confirms how pointless the honours system is. With the utmost of respect to the guy he did nothing more than walk around his garden. If it weren't for his grandson doing a IT project for school he'd have got a few hundred quid from friends and family. People around the world wanted a boost and something to smile about during the Pandemic and he and his grandson were in the right place, right time. That is not knighthood worthy. I'm ignoring the fact that we shouldn't be raising money for the NHS in the first place.

I couldn't give a tuppenny about a system that rarely rewards the right people, just those who have others to push their case. As has been said, it means a lot to the old guy, so it's as appropriate for him as for others...... but that's not saying much.

I think if you get it for gallantry he checks that box, but when you compare him to other recipients... well, he hasn't written one single pop song..

Nor has he defrauded thousands of workers out of their pensions.... unless you know differently
