Amazon made it happen. You can't buy food direct from M&S in the US, it comes via smugglers a third party. I don't think they are from either China or Iran.

Some years ago I ordered a christmas pud from Harrods for Canada.

I understand there's a company called Cost Plus World Market in the states where one can buy this sort of stuff. But you probably know this.

You can, but they are all tiny and they are Walkers which I find much too sweet. M&S are pretty damn good.

Cost Plus does have Robertson's mincemeat for mince pies though.

Do the ready-made not have enough cooking sherry in them?

Anyway, I solve that problem by having them with brandy butter.

Crumpets with grilled cheese on top make me smile too.

I’m lucky supermarkets here in Toronto sell them all year round.

The Halloween candy is still warm and here you are posting Xmas puddings

Just kidding, I love this time of year. Plus we just had our new furniture delivered in time to be broken in before Thanksgiving. This pleases me.

You lot kind of have the best of both worlds up there in Canada - I can find the usual North American sweets and food, a bunch of British ones and a few that seem to be uniquely Canadian variations on a theme.

Then I go to buy some beer and my wallet starts crying.

We aren't eating them yet. They were just delivered, so I felt the need to share. Their arrival, not the puddings. Not sharing them.

Besides, the Little Lion will be home and eating everything in sight.

Just a little variation on the 'Christmas starts in November' theme. I secretly like that it does, but don't tell anyone.

I also just had a taste flashback to my granny's homemade pudding on Christmas day, still hot with a heaping dollop of cream slowly melting on top. I don't even like raisins anymore and I'd still demolish that right now.

I hope you really bought more than the two in the picture then. I'm sure he's just champing at the bit to get back here. Well, actually joking aside, I do enjoy an American Christmas all the same.

And what, pray, is wrong with wholesome American Crumpets....This is the question that the Feds will ask when they come calling.
....Offer 'em some hot toasted, with butter & marmalade and a mug of Builders', and watch their faces ....

Christmas fare, crumpets, aahhh... Before I moved here I had searched out 'Brit shops' as one inevitably does, and was very happy to find one in Antwerp, about 12km distant.

I dreamt of Richmond sausages, Walkers crisps and tons of other stuff and hurriedly checked it out again as soon as we arrived and had gotten the network up and running.

That shop closed about three months ago.

Hours spent Googling turned up two more UK/US shops over the border in the Netherlands. One is 127km away the other 141km.

260km round trip for sausages??? Hmm...

But today's smile comes courtesy of an email received this morning from my garage, forwarding the paperwork for applications for vehicle registration and insurance, which means that the new car will be delivered in a few days time. Yay!

It's weird here (to me anyway), when the vehicle registration is approved they send the rear plate, invoice and another bit of paper to one's home address, one then orders the front plate from a supplier of one's choice, again to home address, then one goes to garage with plates...

Forgot to close the ensuite door when the hooligans kittens were in my bedroom. Walked in to find the entire loo roll all over the floor in a thousand pieces. Off to be desexed tomorrow, that'll teach 'em!
