Young Lion has certainly grown into a very handsome young man. If only I was 35 years younger *sigh*

BE hasn't stunted him then? Hope he had a great time,

Thanks. The after party with a group of friends was at someone else's house (clever me) and then they were all staying there overnight so he's not home yet. I expect to see his shattered remains roll up here no earlier than lunchtime. I have had no calls that he was either hurt or arrested, so it's all good.

I remember those days and I was always glad we had the small house so most overnighter were at some else's house!

Less so, since legal age in this state is 21 and they are all 18, but it would be naive to suppose that there is none at all. The Little Lion is pretty level-headed and does not really drink except when he gets a glass of wine at dinner or beer with a meal when with us in the UK. Having said that, he is off to uni in the UK in September so I am actually sort of hoping that he practises a little bit here, in safe places, so he has some clue as to what booze feels like if you have more than one, so that he is not caught completely unawares in the autumn.

Donald could have a McSpam rushed in from Hawaii!
Stocking up on red wine!

Last night - enjoying dinner outside at our local Italian. Gaggle of parents opposite with offspring, probable age range 5 - 10. One small boy, with fishing net on stick, in one move, snares the head of his mate (brother?) & leads him off down the street!
Done so deftly, so quickly & so neatly - we had to laugh.

Finding a letter dated 8th September 1945 from my Great Uncle to his siblings letting them know he was safe in the Sine Internment Camp in Singapore and whilst he wasn't well he was alive. Very British stiff upper lip and understated. He'd been a civilian working for Chartered Bank when the Japs decided to put him in Changi. I then found another eight page long letter to his sister telling her how he'd survived the 1923 earthquake in Tokyo by leaving his office early to catch a train and was two minutes down the road in a park when the quake hit. Over 100k people died. Again, very British and understated. He was very happy that when they were eventually able to get back into the destroyed bank, he found his work safe very damaged but could open it and found his Military Cross medal from the First World War was in perfect condition. I didn't know he'd been awarded it. I wonder what happened to it.
