Finally being able to listen to War of the Worlds at my desk in work because I now, after years of just having the (still highly prized by me) LP version I finally got it on CD.
Feels good, man
Feels good, man

I know it's related to a very sad event, but it made me smile because it's Londoners behaving well and giving the lie to the whole "us vs. them" thing that is currently popular in some circles.
Most of the country is much more like this picture.
On Westminster Bridge today.

I saw this clip yesterday, this is just spot on:

This. This right here is what it means to be British. Not the other nonsense going on today.

Would-be attackers would do well to pick up a history book before attempting something like that again. If arguably the most organized and well-equipped military force of the day couldn't take Britian during an all-out war, a handful of insurgents with knocked off Russian guns and home made bombs aren't going to do it during (relative) peacetime.
The spirit of the Blitz is always there. They tend to forget that the UK also then spent 25 years undergoing almost constant terrorist attacks, both provincial and national, and didn't flinch.

Not only that, collectively we can and must resist the culture change and refuse to become fearful, xenophobic, hysterical and antagonistic. That is what the populist movement wants. It won't get it. Not if the vast majority of ordinary, decent people in the UK have anything to do with it.

I booked ours today
Going in June, daughter, sil, and grandaughter going with us. It will be 3 years since we were all together with our son as well. We are also actually going to be able to see a niece get married as well.
Over the last 28 years we have missed so many family celebrations so I'm really chuffed about our visit this time.
Roll on June

It's always good to go back, but it's better when there's a big occasion as well so you get to see more people than you normally would have.
