I have never lived outside North America, although at times I wish I could.

It sounds like a lot of food but portions were a lot smaller and there was always left over meat to be minced up with onion and bread for a Shepherds Pie for Monday!
Sunday roasts were special!

It was a Sunday dinner in the UK always roast of some sort. Either Beef, Pork or Lamb with roast potatoes and various vegetables plus the wonderful Yorkshire pudding and gravy. Growing up for me it was when all the family managed to sit down and eat at the same time and that usually included grandparents as well. All the vegetables including the potatoes were grown by either my dad or my grandad. My dad usually was in charge of cooking the meat and we all helped prepare the veggies. We even started the meal with a bowl of soup, often oxtail and ended the meal with my mums homemade fruit pie with custard The pie would be whatever fruit was available. During summer it could have been blackcurrant, raspberries or apples.

Chicken and Turkey missing from Sugarmooma's post, although Turkey was more likely just christmas dinner. Of course she may have been talking about her house

Sunday Roasts usually stop for the summer in our house now. It is too hot to spend all day in the kitchen
