What have you never done?

‘I have never seen the sea’ Loren, 18, Ontario

I have never driven a car. I think my dad sat me on his lap once while driving and maybe I had my hands on the steering wheel. And now I've just written that I remember holding the steering wheel of a jeep on the motorway while a mate was doing something.

Even as a child the most I would ever do in a Dodgem was sit with someone and put my foot on the pedal. I just didn't want to steer it.

Then one day, on the pier at Weston-super-Mare I got up the nerve to drive one on my own and I enjoyed it so much you couldn't get me out of the car and I kept going again.

But that was no basis to drive a car.

I dunno. That seems to be how it works in the US.

I have never performed an appendectomy. Indeed the list of things I have never done is looking impossibly long. Are you sure this topic has been thought through?

I've never done brain surgery. Are you willing to be my first patient? ;)

I've never been to sea, properly. Cross channel ferries don't count.

I would really like to go transatlantic.

That's a good one. Does the North Sea count?

I've never been on a cruise ship. This doesn't seem to be the year to change that habit.

I went to New York City but didn't go up the Empire State Building. It was zero visibility and my penfriend told me it wasn't worth it.

I have done that, but it was only a one day cruise round some of the Greek Islands. Bloody 'Wish you were Here' camera crew where there, along with Judith Chalmers. Saw her a couple of nights at one of the bars, she was having a good time, In these mobile phone days I suspect she might have behaved a bit differently!!, Did get a free drink ourt of them at the hoitel as they wanted us in the background shot. 1st day of our honeymoon with my Ex.

Well more than the Channel. But I feel it should really be where you are days out at sea without the possibility of hitting any land. Oceans just feel different, even from the beach.

Er, no.

Hence my interest in the QMII. Those stabilizers could probably contain a meteor strike.

Mrs P and I sailed on a windjammer in the Caribbean, around St Lucia and the Grenadines, and it was "interesting" to look over the side and see how clear the water was, but also inky black because the surface was calm and the water so deep,
