Outside of Sue and Paul, Ray was the name most associated with the early BE days. RIP, great squirrel hunter. Hugs to your lovely wife, Joyce.

Ray aka as the Grandad of BE.

I had the pleasure of meeting him and Joycee. I always promised that the next time I was in the Tampa/St Pete’s area I would pop in to see them again. Sadly I never went back to Northern Florida.

RIP you old rogue.

(((HUGS))) to Joycee.

RIP Ray. Good times from the early days.

Gone to the great naked-arse swim in the sky.

My Ray story - we disagreed on a lot, but back when I joined this site and was seriously struggling financially he sent me $20 cash in an envelope so that I could take my then little boy out for a treat.

I have a similar story.

When I was a CASA for a large family of abandoned kids he rallied round and got many of the BE members to send the kids Christmas Cards with little gifts of money. The response was amazing, the kids had the best Christmas ever!

He was one of a kind.

I remember that. I know he helped several people through various acts of kindness. Sometimes it was with money, or by sending them a little something he knew meant a lot to them...sometimes it was a shoulder to cry on...or a little advice

They certainly broke the mould when they made Ray.

Very sad news indeed. I was expecting it, but still came as a shock.

nice to see some of the old timers popping out of the woodwork to pay their respects.

Last time Ray died, the thread went on for dozens of pages...
